Thesis and research-internship interviews

One entry per lab or group: your interests, a possible problem, why this lab, relevant papers, feasibility, supervision expectations and the prior work you will explain.

There is no standard academic interview loop

Labs differ widely: some hold an informal conversation, some ask about a paper, some include a coding or math exercise. Ask the supervisor or lab what to expect. The topic Research internship and Master's thesis interview preparation has a preparation checklist and question bank.

Add a lab or group

Who you are meeting and their role.

Two or three sentences you could say without notes.

A concrete question you could work on, stated so it could be wrong.

Specific work of the lab that connects to your interests.

Papers from the lab or the area you have actually read, with one line each.

What could be done in a thesis timeframe, with which data, systems or compute.

Meeting cadence, independence, co-supervision: what you want to ask about.

Projects you will describe; link them to your project notes.

What you need to know to decide.
